Upstarta Camp

Info below for historical reference - of course the event itself has come and gone. It was a great first go and the attendees were definitely up for new camps.

On Tuesday 24 November 2009 we're organising the first Upstarta Camp, in Brisbane (QLD), 12pm to 5pm (approx).

What is it? A picnic in the park. Yes, literally! It's a workshop, but we're doing a barbecue beforehand, and we'll be in a park in the Mt Coot-Tha / Bardon area.

The plan is to, after a joint introduction to get everybody tuned in, split the attendees into smaller groups, each utilising Upstarta principles and related strategies to accomplish tasks. Among other things, we're going to be developing (fictitious but potentially viable) complete products/services including surrounding aspects such as business model, market positioning, pricing, distribution, marketing, etc. Then we'll recombine, present and discuss what each group came up with. It'll be educational, challenging, and fun!

Logistics

We aim to start the workshop at 1pm, so please don't be late. Being there from 12pm for the barbecue lunch will also allow you to meet the other participants!

We're taking care of the necessities and will for instance have some spare chairs and picnic blankets available; but if you can bring your own, please do so.

It's the day before the Open Source Developers' Conference starts at the nearby Bardon Centre, so people travelling to the conference have an opportunity to join the Upstarta Camp also. Just pick a flight earlier in the day.
